This restaurant has many of the menu items you'd expect at a Mexican restaurant. The food is well executed and comes out quickly. The staff have always been friendly, and there's often a good drink special!

I went here over the weekend for dinner with my boyfriend's family. We started out with queso, which was a little runny for my taste. Two times during the dinner we ran out of chips and salsa and water at the table. Is seemed like the service was a little slow. Other than that, the food was delicious. I had a shrimp quesadilla with a side of guacamole.

Well after reading the prior review, I had to try for myself. Plus with everyone else that we tried being closed due to bad weather, Casa Maguey was not our first choice, but we were glad it turned out to be our last choice. The chips and salsa are tasty and the house made hot sauce was super good, it was spicy but on point with flavor. We had the beef tacos which were good as well. Especially for the price, which was $.99. I enjoyed their take on the beans and rice and look forward to trying more dishes in the future. The waiter was very attentive. Worth the try for sure.

just a quick review to clear things up for any local qca people or others who may be seeing this is a 'new' restaurant for the first time:
This is Los Agaves. I am sure some of the same family members are running it and have changed the name but it is the same food or at least 99% the same.
If you like Los Agaves and or Azteca and their clones that combine for 15-20 restaurants in the general quad city area, you will like this, because its the same. If you dont like that food, then you wont like this place.
Its baffling to me how there can be literally 15+ restaurants exactly the same in the qca, out of the hundreds of styles of mexican food, this area has 15+ restaurants serving the exact same food. It makes it really boring. For those that dont know, this is an americanized version of semi-authentic mexican food. It is decent, some things are better than others, like the shrimp mojo de ajo. -

For one, I was completely caught off guard that my beloved Los Agaves was replaced by this perpetrating Tex-mex location. After driving 45 minutes to enjoy a family dinner I was accosted by a subpar meal. Let me elaborate. My mother and I ordered a steak chimichanga which was more oil or grease than shell. Literally, the chimichanga was simply steak and a burrito shell. In what world is that a chimichanga? My father ordered fajitas which seemed to be adequate only to realize it contained broccoli and cauliflower. Again, when have fajitas ever contained broccoli or cauliflower. My sister was unfortunately the real loser of the night. Not only did they not have a dinner that contained chile rellanos on the menu but was guided by the waiter to another dish which she absolutely did not want. She found a happy medium, if that is what you would call it, in ordering from the a-la carte menu. It was quite interesting for her to discover not only did her chile rellanos not have flavor but they also were made with mozzarella. This is not at all what we are accustomed to and we are highly disappointed in the attempted "Tex-mex." My advice, don't come here. I know I won't be back.
